I've been a happy Typepad blogger for several years. This blog is in Typepad as is our Emergent Research website. So I was very excited when the Typepad folks offered to let me try out their Blog Tune-Up Service.
They reviewed this blog and came back with a series of suggestion on how I can improve reader usability, better SEO results and increase traffic. They also discovered a few minor HTML errors on my site which they are going to fix. The improvements in my blog will be substantial.
The service costs $249, but they did mine for free since I am a small business blogger who might write nice things about them if I liked the service (which I obviously did).
They offered to do a review of Emergent Research also for free. But to put our money where our pixels are, we are turning it down and instead paying for the service. I know it will be well worth $249.
If you have a Typepad business blog, you should consider this service.
Disclosure: Beyond receiving the free tune-up service we have no other commercial relationship with Typepad or Six Apart except for subscribing to their blog services at standard commercial rates. We are Typepad Pro subscribers. I provided them with a quote for their small business page and marketing efforts, but did that as a satisfied customer and received no compensation.
Hopefully this set of disclosures will make the FTC happy:).

Meh. To make this review more interesting, it would be nice to see you compare this service with other similar services. One that I know of (disclosure: no personal relationship to this company) is Blogthority:
http://www.blogthority.com/services/
$249 is a LOT of money to tell you that there are some HTML errors on your site. Plus the outrageous $14.95/month that Typepad charges for 10GB of transfer per month so you can't host videos or any other high-bandwidth stuff.
Blogthority charges $49 and they are just one service. How does it compare?

Erica:
I'm not sure I successfully described the full extent of their input and suggestions, which went well beyond HTML fixes.
If I had to spend the time to figure this stuff out on my own, it would probably take me 3-4 days of work and even then I probably would have missed some stuff they caught.

I appreciate Ginevra pointing out this tune-up service because I've got a blog that's straining under poor mark-up that I've cobbled together.

Thanks so much for the kind words, Steve! We're glad you found the service valuable. Bernie, we look forward to working with you. One of the aspects of the service that we think is often the most valuable for people is simply the time that it saves you. While you focus on writing great content, we take care of all the little tweaks that are needed to make the blog look and function well.

Nice, but besides spending money to increase the exposure of your blog, it would also be wise for any small business owner to do everything you can that's free already. For example, after doing a bit of research, you could make a short video that people would love to share with their friends, put this up on YouTube, Veoh, Vimeo, AdWido, and other video sites, and get some free exposure.

Every one understands that life seems to be expensive, nevertheless some people require cash for different things and not every one earns big sums cash. Thus to receive some loan or just auto loan will be a proper solution.

I know this is several years later, but does Typepad still offer similar services at a similar price? I've been trying to find a blogging platform and haven't really heard much from Typepad in a while. Wordpress seems like my best option right now, but I've always liked the way Typepad operates. Thanks

I'm not sure whether or not Typepad offers these services. I also agree they seem a bit quiet these days. It still works well for me.
