Meteorologist Becomes a Go-To Guy from the New York Times covers a free college basketball statistics website used by many college coaches.
The site and the analytics were developed by a Utah based meteorologist as a hobby a few years ago.
Using data in sports is not new. Sabermetrics, the study of baseball statistics, has long been popular with baseball managers, executives and fans. But what is new is the amount of data being collected and the sophistication of the analysis.
This site highlights the growing role data and analytics are playing in all aspects of business. I think if The Graduate was done today, Dustin Hoffman's character would be told "statistics" instead of "plastics."

Surprising.. data even in sports..
