Luckily for us California is not the 'world'...and in that world things tend be be a little different and people there have a slightly wider perspective. Nevertheless the income gap is a sign of the transformation era were are in (check with the economist Carlota Perez ), and the classic middle class employee will disappear, but the independent professional and the sharing economy are not necessarily representing "a new capitalistic system" but form a new stream besides the present form of capitalism, and shows us what economic thinking can (also) be. When these two forms merge eventually, the new world ( I call that Society30) will become visible to us all.
