Dawn Rivers Baker's Journal Blog, which describes itself as "hanging out at the intersection of microbusiness and public policy", has an interesting post on politicians and economists ignoring nonemployer businesses (what we call Personal Businesses and Artisan Businesses).
Large corporations have historically also ignored these businesses but seem to be waking up to the size of this market. Last week at the CBA small business conference it was striking how many big banks are now targeting personal businesses. As more large corporations see this market as important, so too will economists and politicians.
BTW the Journal Blog and related Microbusiness News Briefs are excellent sources for small business public policy information.
