According to Constant Contact's annual Valentine's Day survey, small businesses are not optimistic about this year's Valentine's Day sales. Key data from the survey of small businesses:
- only 24% expect strong Valentine's day sales
- 72% expect their customers to scale back their purchases this year
- 47% are planning special promotions around the holiday
Last year 46% expected strong sales and 68% planned special promotions.
Flowers are expected to be the biggest seller followed by candy.
Despite the economy, Open Table is encouraging everyone to get their dinner reservations early this year because Valentine's day falls on a Saturday.
