The Smithsonian Magazine has a great special section on Futurism. The focus is on the origins and history of futurism.
It's really fun and they have pictures of flying cars, household robots and other futuristic stuff envisioned in the 1900s.
The flying car below is from a 1955 article forecasting that flying cars would be common by 2000. The article also forecast that flying cars would be atomic powered.
No mention of a flux capacitor.
I really enjoy reviewing past visions of the future. It's a healthy reminder that no one can predict the future.
The aerodynamics of this car doesn't look very effective. But concept is eerily fascinating. I mean, living in the 1950s and thinking about flying cars would be like, "are you kidding?"
