To be honest, I was disappointed by The End of Men and the Rise of Women.
It's a decent book. But except for the detailed coverage of the sexual activities of today's college women,it adds little content wise to the excellent Atlantic Monthly article the book is based on.
So my advice is read the article and skip the book. It's just as deep content wise, but much shorter and free.
This is not to say we don't agree with the premise of the book - we do. We've been following the trends related to the end of men and rise of women for many years.
These trends are clear and powerful. We also believe their impact is being underestimated.
If you're interested in this topic and want to dig deeper, I suggest reading Is Marriage for White People and/or Coming Apart - The State of White America. Both are well researched and information rich.
Also worth reading is the New York Times article The Myth of Male Decline.
This article focuses on men holding power positions in today's world. I think this misses the point - which is change is happening and will increasingly impact society - but it's good to see other opinions.
