Legal Force, an online firm that offers legal services, has opened a book store/coworking facility. It's called Bookflip and it's located in the middle of Silicon Valley in Palo Alto, CA.
According to a Pando Daily article, Bookflip is:
"part law office, part bookstore, part lounge, part classroom, part rec center, part ice rink and part tanning salon. Okay, maybe not the last two. But it is a law consultancy center, plus everything else you’d never think to put into the same sentence, let alone same building."
In addition to selling books and letting you meet with attorneys, Bookflip also sells tablets and smartphones and has classes on a wide range of topics.
The idea is to build a law oriented community and provide that community a wide range of legal and legal related services.
We've long followed coworking's "Cambrian Explosion" of new types and forms of coworking spaces. BTW, we quickly learned we're the only ones who like the term "Cambrian Explosion", so we quit using it. But I couldn't help myself in this case because Bookflip is such an odd coworking mutation.
Expect to see more versions of coworking coming to space near you.
