TD Ameritrade did a study late last year on retirement savings and the self-employed. One of the questions they asked was why people chose self-employment over traditional employment.
The results, which are shown in the chart from the study below, will not surprise regular readers.
In our research on the self-employed we constantly hear autonomy, control and flexibility as the top reasons people pursue and like self-employment. Pursuing a passion comes in close behind.
We like seeing other surveys finding similar results to ours. It makes us much more confident of our data.
