The RideShare Guy released their 2017 Survey Results: Driver Earnings, Satisfaction and Demographics.
It has lots of interesting data on those who drive for services like Uber and Lyft.
One of the most interesting findings is Lyft drivers are much more satisfied than Uber drivers. More than 75 percent of Lyft drivers said they were satisfied with their experience, while only about half (49%) of Uber drivers said they were satisfied.
One reason for the difference, it appears, is many drivers don't like UberPOOL.
As the study chart below shows, 2 out of 3 Uber drivers are not satisfied with UberPOOL while only 13% say they are satisfied.
The other data that jumped out at us was the age of the drivers. As the study chart below shows, 54% of the responding drivers said they were 51 or older and 24% report being older than 60.
This is older than Uber or Lyft's own studies report, but not substantially so.
This confirms something we see across all our survey work on the gig economy. Older Americans value the highly flexible nature of gig work and are turning to it to supplement their incomes and/or stay engaged in the workplace.
